No. 25 Chargers fall in 4 sets on road to 8th-ranked Cougars
EAST PEORIA — In a matchup of nationally ranked teams, No. 8 Illinois Central came away with a 25-18, 25-19, 26-28, 25-22 win over the No. 25 Sandburg volleyball team Thursday night.
Madalynn Knapp turned in a team-leading 12 kills for the Chargers (3-5) to go along with 10 digs. Sophomore Abigail Shaffer also turned in a double-double for Sandburg, putting down 10 kills and collecting 14 digs to go along with a team-best three aces.
Libero Addison Gillen (20), setter Quinn Rexroat (14) and opposite Jacie Eller (11) also reached double-digit digs for the visitors.
Rexroat had 31 assists in the loss, and Taliya Galloway led the Chargers with three blocks. Harlee Hainds picked up two blocks for Sandburg.
