Chargers Play to Draw Against Iowa Central in Season Opener

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College men's soccer team earned a result in head coach Gerardo Ruvalcaba's debut, playing to a 0-0 draw against Iowa Central on a sweltering Sunday afternoon at Kleine Field.
Each team was kept off the board while putting four shots on goal. The Chargers' best opportunity came in the 32nd minute as Matteo Rissato Prado put one on net from the inside the box, but the Tritons' keeper made a diving save to his left.
Iowa Central put a ball off the post in the 33rd minute. Chargers starting keeper Jack Oliver made three saves before coming out of the match in the 72nd minute because of the heat. His replacement, Lucas Maranhao, made the biggest save of the contest, sprawling to his right to turn away a header in the 76th minute to keep the game scoreless.
Saul Etienne had two of the Chargers' four shots on goal.
