Shaffer has 12 kills, 10 digs in Chargers’ road loss to Scots
CRYSTAL LAKE — Abigail Shaffer collected a dozen kills, but the Sandburg volleyball team came up short 25-20, 25-23, 17-25, 27-25 in a Region 4 match at McHenry County on Thursday night.
Shaffer's kill total led the Chargers (6-8) in the contest, and she was one away from matching her career high of 13 set Aug. 23 against St. Clair County. Thursday marked Shaffer's fifth time reaching double-digit kills this season.
The sophomore also collected 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the year. Addison Gillen (19), Emma Schweigert (14), Jalie Eller (14) and Quinn Rexroat (10) also had at least 10 kills for Sandburg against the Scots. The Chargers' 75 digs on the night tied for their second-most this year.
Rexroat had 26 assists from her setter role, and Eller had three of the Chargers' eight aces in the match. Gillen had two ace serves.
