Sandburg Volleyball Clinches Arrowhead Conference Title With Sweep at Sauk Valley
GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team once again stands alone at the top of the Arrowhead Conference.
The Chargers clinched the outright conference championship with a 25-15, 25-23, 25-21 sweep at Sauk Valley on Tuesday night. It's the ninth Arrowhead title in program history (1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990, 2018, 2019) and third in the past five years for the Chargers. Sandburg improved to 7-0 in the conference and has won eight of its last 10 overall to push its record to 22-13.
The Chargers have dropped just one set this season against Arrowhead opponents. Their only blemish was a third-set loss to Highland in the league opener.
Sandburg hit .324 and did not commit an error in Tuesday's first set against the Skyhawks (17-16, 5-2). Overall for the match, the Chargers posted a .281 hitting percentage and were led by 15 kills from sophomore Lauren Erke. Jadyn Swan and Gracie Rademacker added eight kills apiece.
Setter Carmyn Baldwin tallied 34 aces, and libero Jasmin McDaniel led Sandburg with 16 digs. Rademacker had 14 digs and served two of the Chargers' three aces on the evening. Swan and freshman Lillian Isenhour picked up two blocks each.
UP NEXT FOR SANDBURG
The Chargers will look to complete a perfect run through the conference's regular season schedule when they host Illinois Valley at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 on Sophomore Night.
