Chargers Never Trail in Sweeping Away Black Hawk

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team remained alone in first place in the Arrowhead Conference with a dominant showing in a 25-5, 25-14, 25-17 sweep of Black Hawk on Wednesday at John Lewis Gym.

The Chargers (19-11, 6-0) won their fifth in a row and for the 10th time in 11 matches. Sandburg also improved to 5-0 on its home floor and stayed a half-game ahead of Sauk Valley in the conference standings.

The Chargers have two Arrowhead matches remaining and need a victory in one of those (or a Sauk Valley loss) to clinch the eighth conference championship in program history. Sandburg can sew up the outright title with a win Tuesday at Sauk Valley.

The Chargers never trailed in Wednesday's win over Black Hawk. Sandburg, which totaled just six attack errors, got a team-high 11 kills from Gracie Rademacker and nine from Lauren Erke. Erke also served a team-leading five of the Chargers' 14 aces on the evening. Jadyn Swan added five kills and four aces.

Carmyn Baldwin had 25 assists and Jasmin McDaniel paced the Chargers defensively with 13 digs. Lillian Isenhour and Grace Evans each had a pair of blocks for Sandburg in the victory.
