Chargers Get Sweep at Highland to Set Up 1st-Place Showdown With Skyhawks

FREEPORT — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team earned an Arrowhead Conference sweep at Highland on Tuesday, setting up a showdown this evening at home with sole possession of first place in the league on the line.

The Chargers (16-11, 4-0) handled the Cougars 27-25, 25-20, 25-17 to stay unbeaten in the Arrowhead. Sandburg will host Sauk Valley, which is also 5-0 in the conference, at 6 p.m. tonight in John Lewis Gym.

Gracie Rademacker put together a solid all-around performance for Sandburg at Highland, totaling 13 kills, three aces and 14 digs. Jadyn Swan had a team-high 16 kills for the Chargers on a .519 hitting percentage. Swan also had two aces and two blocks, and setter Carmyn Baldwin had 36 assists.

Libero Jasmin McDaniel led Sandburg with 19 digs as she was one of four Chargers to reach double figures in that category. Lauren Erke matched Rademacker's 14 digs, and Baldwin added 10. Erke and Grace Evans also had three blocks each for Sandburg.
