Double-doubles from Kisler, Atterberg send Sandburg women to 3rd straight win
JACKSONVILLE — A pair of double-doubles and a dominant third quarter helped power the Sandburg women's basketball team to an 85-65 win at Illinois College JV on Wednesday night.
Antonia Kisler and Camryn Atterberg each finished with double-digit points and rebounds as the Chargers (16-7) won their third straight and for the seventh time in eight games.
Kisler tallied a team-best 23 points, including a 3-for-5 night from 3-point range. The sophomore from Galesburg also had 12 rebounds (five offensive) and four assists in the win over the Lady Blues.
Atterberg connected on 5 of 9 field-goal attempts while ending with 10 points. Atterberg also had a team-leading 14 boards, with six coming on the offensive glass. The first-year forward from Keokuk, Iowa, also posted four assists and blocked three shots.
The Chargers led 39-35 at halftime but extended their lead after outcoring Illinois College JV 25-10 in the third period. Sandburg hit 13 of 33 3s in the victory and was 14 of 16 from the free-throw line.
Freshman Hailey Redding was 3 of 6 from downtown and scored 15 points for the Chargers. Sophomore Tiera Hall had 12 rebounds and dished out a team-best six assists.
