GALESBURG — The Sandburg women's basketball team blitzed Illinois Valley early on and earned its fourth straight win, beating the Eagles 69-50 on Thursday night.
The victory was the seventh in the last eight games for the Chargers (13-6, 3-0), who scored the final 17 points of the first quarter and five straight to open the second for a 25-5 lead.
Freshman Hailey Redding delivered a game-best 20 points in the win, giving her four outings of at least 20 points in the last five contests. Redding was 7 of 18 from the floor and connected on three 3-pointers.
Sophomore Paige Huffman scored 12 points off the bench on the strength of a 4-for-11 night from beyond the arc. Huffman's dozen points matched her season high, and she grabbed a season-best seven rebounds.
Antonia Kisler added 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Sandburg. Fellow sophomore Tiera Hall had a team-best 11 rebounds to go with six points, four assists and six steals.
Sandburg, which led 41-20 at halftime, finished with 10 3s on the night for its sixth straight game with double-digit 3s made.
