Sandburg women pick up road win at John Wood

QUINCY — Playing the first leg of a home-and-home series with John Wood, the Sandburg women's basketball team came away with a 65-52 road victory over the Blazers on Tuesday night.

Tiera Hall and Antonia Kisler each recorded double-doubles in the win, and Hailey Redding led the Chargers in scoring for the third straight game.

Redding finished with 16 points while going 7 of 17 from the field, including a perfect 6 for 6 on 2-point tries. The freshman also had five rebounds, four assists and three steals on the night.

Kisler put up 13 points while also grabbing 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the year. The sophomore hit three of the Chargers' five made 3-pointers in the win.

Hall earned her third double-double in a row (fourth this season) by scoring 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and leading the Chargers with 12 rebounds.

Freshman Lajaya Angel just missed picking up her double-double as she had nine points and 10 boards. Angel's rebounding total was a season high. Camyrn Atterberg also had nine points for Sandburg as the Chargers nearly had all five starters score in double figures.

Sandburg outscored the Blazers in each period. The Chargers took an 18-14 lead after the opening quarter and held a 34-26 advantage at halftime.

Sandburg's latest deficit came at 8-7 before Anna Landis connected on a layup with 6:00 left in the first to take the lead for good.
