Ferguson, Kisler lead Chargers past Red Devils for 3rd straight win
GALESBURG — Capre Ferguson and Antonia Kisler each put up double-doubles, and the Sandburg women's basketball team recorded a season-high in rebounds as the Chargers won 60-50 at Eureka JV on Wednesday.
The Chargers (9-5) won their third in a row after seeing a 27-25 halftime lead balloon to 47-31 as they outscored the Red Devils 20-6 in the third quarter.
Ferguson tallied 19 points to lead Sandburg in scoring for the third straight contest. The sophomore from Galesburg was 7 of 14 from the field and connected on a 3-pointer. She also racked up a career-high 15 boards for her first double-double as a Charger. Ten of Ferguson's rebounds came on the offensive end, and she dished out a team-best four assists.
Kisler posted 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go with 11 boards. It marked the fifth double-double of the season for the freshman from Galesburg. Kisler had four offensive rebounds, knocked down a triple and hit both of her foul shots.
No other Sandburg player scored in double figures, but sophomore Brook Pieper pulled in a team-best 16 rebounds as the Chargers notched season-highs of 70 rebounds and 32 offensive boards. Sandburg's previous high in both categories this year was Dec. 11 against Spoon River when the Chargers had 67 total rebounds and 30 on the offensive end.
