Huffman hits 4 treys, but Tigers snap Chargers’ 3-game streak
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — Paige Huffman got hot late from long distance, but it wasn't enough for the Sandburg women's basketball team in a 74-56 loss at Marshalltown on Thursday night.
The Chargers (4-3) saw their three-game win streak snapped after facing a 40-22 deficit at halftime.
Huffman came off the bench to score 12 points, all on second-half 3-pointers. The freshman from Wethersfield High School was 4 of 6 from beyond the arc and made a pair of 3s in each of the final two quarters. The outing marked her first double-digit scoring night as a Charger.
Sophomore Capre Ferguson finished with a team-best 13 points as she went 5 of 13 from the field.
Antonia Kisler and Brook Pieper each came up with seven points and a team-leading 10 rebounds in the loss.
Mia Sao-Martinez, Shenell Stewart and Destiny Sao-Martinez each scored 16 for the Tigers to lead all players.
