Gugliotta, Isenhour Grab Double-Doubles in Chargers' Loss to MATC
GALESBURG — Sophia Gugliotta and Lilly Isenhour each put up double-doubles, but Milwaukee Area Tech held off the Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team Saturday at John Lewis Gym, dealing the Chargers a 75-58 loss.
Sandburg trailed 37-26 at halftime but outscored the Stormers 19-13 in the third quarter to pull within five entering the fourth. MATC, though, outscored the Chargers 25-13 in the final period to pull out the victory.
Gugliotta had 12 points and 11 boards (four on the offensive glass) to record her second double-double in three games. Gugliotta finished 4 of 9 from the floor, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range.
Isenhour, meanwhile, had 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds (eight offensive) for her second double-double in the last four contests. The freshman finished 5 of 15 from the field.
Freshman guard Elly Bentley had a team-best 20 points for the Chargers, marking her third straight 20-point effort. Bentley knocked down all eight of her free-throw attempts, had six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
MATC had four players score in double figures, led by Shiauna Nixon-Boyd's 17 points.
