Gugliotta Notches Double-Double in Chargers’ Loss to WolfPack

GALESBURG — Elly Bentley had a season-high in scoring and Sophia Gugliotta put up a double-double, but Madison held on to defeat the Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team 80-76 on Saturday afternoon at John Lewis Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
• Tied at 28 in the second quarter, the Chargers (2-4) scored 9 of the next 10 to take the lead, and they went into halftime up 37-34. Bentley started the stretch with a pair of mid-range jumpers, and she fed Lily Hudgins for a bucket.
• The WolfPack scored eight straight to open the second half and never trailed again. A pair of Kaylee Anzalone 3-pointers bookended the 8-0 run.
• Sandburg trailed by nine in the fourth quarter at 68-59, but the Chargers were able to get within 72-69 after a Gracie Sims layup with 3:10 to play. That was the first of three times Sandburg closed its deficit to three points in the closing minutes, but Madison was able to close out the victory.
