GALESBURG — The Sandburg softball team finished off a season sweep of Sauk Valley on Tuesday by putting up 11 runs in both ends of an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader.

Chargers highlights
• The Chargers got on the board in the opening inning, scoring three times with two out. Jaylynn Hamilton and Jalie Eller each scored with as a grounder to third off the bat of Emma Racke was misplayed. Madalynn Knapp followed with an RBI double to right for a 3-0 lead.
• Tied 4-4 in the fourth, Sandburg loaded the bases with nobody out. Hannah Pyle doubled in a pair of runs to take the lead. Racke then came through with a sacrifice fly, and Payton Ruggles singled to left to bring in Pyle for an 8-4 advantage.
Sandburg standout
Hamilton went 3 for 5 out of the leadoff spot, scoring three times. The third baseman also drove in a run.

• Eller: 2 for 5, two runs, stolen base
• Knapp: 2 for 3, walk, double, run, RBI
• Ruggles: 2 for 4, run, RBI
• Rodgers: Complete game, two earned runs, season-high seven strikeouts

Chargers highlights
• Tied at 2 in the third, the Chargers struck for six two-out runs to grab the lead. Racke's single knocked in Climer with the go-ahead run, and Ruggles and Rodgers also added RBI singles to make it 5-2. With the bases loaded, Reese Poole brought home two more with a base hit, and Hamilton closed the rally with an RBI single to left for an 8-2 lead.
• Rodgers cleared the bases with a three-run double in the bottom of the fourth to put Sandburg ahead 11-3.
Sandburg standouts
The bottom third of Sandburg's order (Ruggles, Rodgers and Poole) combined to go 5 for 7 with a walk, a double, four runs scored and eight RBIs. Ruggles was 1 for 2 with a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. Rodgers finished 2 for 2 with a double, a run scored and four driven in. Poole went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs.

• Racke: 2 for 3, two runs, RBI
SCHEDULE UPDATE
The Chargers' doubleheader scheduled for Thursday at Highland has been canceled and won't be made up. Sandburg's is scheduled to play in the Conference Clash on Saturday and Sunday in Ottawa. The Chargers' first contest is 1 p.m. Saturday against Oakton.
