Chargers offense stymied by Eagles in doubleheader

GALESBURG — Illinois Valley kept the Sandburg softball team's bats quiet Tuesday, holding the Chargers to just one run in an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader.

Chargers highlights
Sandburg jumped on the board first with a single tally in the opening frame. Madalynn Knapp reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second on Emma Racke's two-out hit to right. Knapp then came home with the game's first run as Hannah Pyle knocked a single to right field.

Sandburg standout
Pyle had two of the Chargers' six hits, going 2 for 3 and driving in their lone run of the contest.

Sandburg standout
Jordyn Climer picked up two hits in three at-bats and stole a base for the Chargers. In the circle, Climer kept the Eagles off the board until the fourth. She finished with four earned runs allowed in seven innings and struck out one.

UP NEXT
The Chargers' doubleheader scheduled for today at John Wood has been postponed. A makeup date has yet to be announced. Sandburg's next scheduled action is noon Friday at Kishwaukee.
