DIXON — The Sandburg softball team got into the win column for the first time this season by sweeping an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader at Sauk Valley on Sunday.

Chargers highlights
• Six consecutive Chargers reached with one out in a five-run top of the third. Madalynn Knapp had the biggest blow of the inning, a two-run triple that scored Jaylynn Hamilton and Jordyn Climer.
• Up 7-0 in the sixth, Knapp connected for another extra-base hit, this time a double to center that pushed Climer home.
Sandburg standout
Cheyanne Rodgers pitched a six-hit shutout to give Sandburg its first win of the year. Rodgers struck out five batters and didn't issue a walk in the gem. She faced 25 batters over six innings and threw 51 of her 78 pitches for strikes. At the plate, Rodgers went 2 for 3, stole a base and scored two runs.

Chargers highlights
Leading 4-2 in the fourth, the Chargers blew the game open with eight runs. Knapp started the scoring with a two-run double. Sandburg also got RBI hits in the stanza from Hannah Pyle, Jalie Eller, Reese Poole and Hamilton.
Sandburg standout
Hamilton was a perfect 3 for 3 out of the leadoff spot in Game 2. The third baseman had three singles, scored twice and drove in three runs. She finished the doubleheader 5 for 5 with four runs and four RBIs.
