RIVER GROVE — A trio of Chargers had a goal and an assist to account for all the Sandburg men's soccer team's scoring in its 3-1 win at Triton on Sunday.
Alberto Fernandez Do Carmo, Luis Garcia and Valentin Kretschmer each totaled three points as the Chargers (6-2-2) won their third in a row and extended their unbeaten streak to five contests.
Garcia broke the ice as Fernandez Do Carmo found him for a goal in the 14th minute.
After a quick Trojans response in the 15th minute evened the match, Fernandez Do Carmo helped Sandburg regain the lead off a Kretschmer assist in the 28th minute.
Kretschmer extended the Chargers' advantage to 3-1 in the 31st minute as Garcia fed him for a goal.
The first-half strikes proved to be enough for Sandburg, which got five saves on six shots on goal from keeper Linus Richtberg. The win was the second in a row for Richtberg in net.
