Figueroa, Kretschmer each score twice as Chargers win at Harper

PALATINE — Mateo Figueroa and Valentin Kretschmer each scored twice to send the Sandburg men's soccer team to a 4-2 Region 4 victory at Harper on Sunday afternoon.

Jaime Cortadi fed Figueroa in the 20th minute to get the Chargers (4-2-2) on the board, and Kretschmer scored in the 38th minute off an assist from Pablo Albiach.

Kretschmer's second strike of the day came in the 73rd minute off a pass from Luis Garcia. Figueroa made it multiple Chargers with multiple goals as he converted a penalty kick in the 80th minute of the match.

Sunday marked the second two-goal game of Kretschmer's career. He also did it Sept. 30 last season against Kennedy-King.

Sandburg keeper Sergi Cruz made five saves while earning the victory in net.

The Chargers are unbeaten in their last three matches and have dropped just one match in their last six.
