Hathaway homers in 4th straight, Cawley goes season-high 7 innings in Chargers’ win at Illinois Valley
PERU — Chuck Hathaway continued his home run hot streak, and Clayton Cawley turned in his best outing of the season as the Sandburg baseball team won 13-3 in eight innings Tuesday at Illinois Valley.
The win gave the Chargers a home-and-home series victory over the Eagles after the teams split a doubleheader Monday at Sandburg.

Chargers highlights
• Sandburg grabbed a 4-0 lead after the opening inning behind a Colton Allen RBI double, a Braley Burford sacrifice fly and a two-run single by Carter Ramsey.
• Up 5-2 in the fourth, Damien Snell popped a two-run homer to center field, and Hathaway added one of his own later in the inning with a shot to left, his 10th of the season. It marked Hathaway's fourth consecutive game with a homer, and he has six in the last six games.
Sandburg standout
While the Chargers collected 14 hits in the contest, Cawley turned in a superb performance on the mound. The sophomore from Metamora allowed three runs over a season-high seven innings while earning his first victory of the season. Cawley gave up six hits and three walks while fanning six IVCC batters.
