Hathaway homers, earns win on mound in Chargers’ victory over Sauk Valley
GALESBURG — Chuck Hathaway got the win on the mound and homered at the plate in the Sandburg baseball team's 12-2 win in seven innings over Sauk Valley on Tuesday afternoon.

Chargers highlights
• Sandburg opened with a five-run first inning that included a Colton Allen RBI single, a three-run homer by Braley Burford and an RBI double off the bat of Carter Ramsey.
• Damien Snell pounded a three-run home run to right in the bottom of the fourth for an 8-2 Chargers lead.
• Hathaway, fresh off completing five strong innings on the mound, led off the fifth with a solo shot to kick off a four-run frame that extended Sandburg's lead to 10 runs.

Hathaway allowed two runs on three hits and four walks while earning the victory on the bump. He struck out five batters and had 50 of 87 pitches go for strikes. At the dish, he finished 2 for 4 with his homer and two runs scored. The longball was his sixth of the season.
