Chargers fall short at Kougars despite Hathaway’s strong 2-way game
GALESBURG — Chuck Hathaway had a strong day on the mound and at the dish, but the Sandburg baseball team came up short in a 10-6 loss at Kishwaukee on Wednesday afternoon.

Key moments
• Down 6-5 in the top of the eighth and with runners at first and second, Hathaway came through with a two-out single that brought in Damien Snell with the tying run.
• The Kougars pulled ahead again in the bottom of the frame, using four singles and a walk to push across four runs for the final margin.
• Thanks to a hit batsman, an error and a walk, Sandburg brought the tying run to the plate with two gone in the ninth, but Colton Allen struck out to end the contest.

Hathway exited with a 4-3 lead after pitching the first five innings for the Chargers. The freshman from Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School allowed two earned runs on four hits and a walk while fanning eight batters. At the plate, Hathaway finished 2 for 5 with a run scored and two RBIs.
