Dickerson’s dinger, 5 RBIs in Game 2 help Chargers split home opener

GALESBURG — Jameson Dickerson homered and drove in five runs in Game 2, helping the Sandburg baseball team split a doubleheader Monday against Milwaukee Area Technical in the Chargers' home opener.

Key moments 
• Sandburg took a 4-3 lead in the second as the Chargers' first four batters reached in a three-run inning. Damien Snell drove in two with a base hit to left field, and Carter Chapin followed with an RBI groundout to put Sandburg ahead. 
• The Stormers regained the lead by scoring four in the fourth, then put up a seven-run sixth to extend their lead.  

Sandburg standout 
Center fielder Carter Ramsey had three of the Chargers' 11 hits. Ramsey singled in the second, third and fifth innings, and he scored a run.

Key moments 
• Dickerson helped get the Chargers on the board in the first inning, popping a three-run homer. Snell walked to lead off the inning, and Chapin followed with a single to center. With two out, Dickerson swatted a homer to left for an early 3-0 lead. 
• Sandburg extended its advantage to 10-0 with a seven-run second. The Chargers had four hits and drew three walks in the frame. 

Sandburg standout 
Dickerson's homer was the first of his Sandburg career. The freshman left fielder from Galesburg added a two-run single in the second as he finished 2 for 5 with two runs, five RBIs and a stolen base in the win.
