MARION — Damien Snell and Griffen Landsverk each cracked home runs as the Sandburg baseball team picked up its first win of the season 11-6 over Shawnee on Monday afternoon.

Key moments
• Tied 2-2, the Chargers loaded the bases to start the top of the sixth, and Snell walked to force in a run to give Sandburg the lead. Another run scored when Chuck Hathaway bounced into a double play, and Braley Burford's two-out single drove in Brady Veselack to make it 5-2 Chargers.
• After Shawnee cut the lead to 5-4, Sandburg added four runs in the seventh. Landsverk connected for a two-run homer to left, and Snell added a solo shot three batters later. Colton Allen's two-out double to center plated Chuck Hathaway for a 9-4 Chargers lead.

Snell reached base five times in the win, going 4 for 5 with a walk, his home run and four RBIs. The third baseman from Galesburg led off the game with a single, added an RBI hit in the second, drew a walk in the sixth, homered in the seventh and tacked on an RBI single in the ninth.
