Smith Whiffs 10 for Chargers in Loss to No. 20 Cavaliers
CARTERVILLE — David Smith fanned 10 batters over seven solid innings, but No. 20 Kankakee defeated the Carl Sandburg College baseball team 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

KEY MOMENT
The Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a two-out single by Bryce Brown that plated Joey Jockisch, but the Cavaliers scored three times in the top of the fourth, taking advantage of three Sandburg errors in the frame.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Smith allowed just one earned run on three hits and five walks in seven innings, the longest outing by a Chargers pitcher on the young season. The 6-foot-5 freshman from Tremont struck out 10 and threw 62 of his 105 pitches for strikes.
