Korte Homers as Chargers Open Season With Loss to No. 4 Hawks

NORMAL — The Carl Sandburg College baseball team took advantage of a dry mid-February day and kicked off its season Wednesday afternoon at Heartland. The Chargers played the Hawks, ranked fourth in NJCAA Division II, even through 4½ innings before falling 21-3 in seven frames.

KEY MOMENT
Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the Hawks put up 15 runs on eight hits against three Sandburg pitchers.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Sophomore left fielder Logan Korte got the Chargers on the board with a solo home run in the top of the fifth to even the score. Korte later added an RBI groundout in the sixth, finishing 1 for 3 with a pair of RBIs
