Chargers compete on Detweiller course at Bradley Intercollegiate
PEORIA — The Sandburg cross country teams competed at the Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday evening at Detweiller Park.
Freshman Andrew Peterson placed 101st in the 8-kilometer men's race to be the top Chargers finisher for the meet. Peterson completed the course in 28 minutes, 24.1 seconds.
Other scorers for the men's team were Finn Martin (219th, 34:31.6), Dylan Moore (233rd, 38:56.3), Jacob Pedigo (41:01.3) and Jeff Kipkorir (239th, 52:10.0).
Sandburg was one of just four NJCAA programs in the men's field and finished 23rd. Host Bradley won the men's title with 31 points. The Braves' Caleb Lind had a winning time of 24:06.3.
Linda Koech's mark of 23:17.6 led Sandburg in the women's 5K as she placed 158th overall. Other runners for the Chargers were Faith Rotich (170th, 24:15.9), Marrion Kemboi (185th, 26:25.9), Grace Maiyo (188th, 28:04.3) and Abigael Maiyo (191st, 28:51.4).
Five NJCAA teams took part in the women's race. Sandburg finished 23rd overall as a team. Bradley had a perfect score of 15 in the women's event and was led by Kaitlyn Sheppard's winning run of 16:11.9.
