Schultz places 18th for Chargers at Fighting Scot Fall Invite

MONMOUTH — Jessica Schultz had a top-20 finish and the Sandburg women's golf team took fifth at the Fighting Scot Fall Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Gibson Woods.

Schultz opened her tournament with a 12-over-par 83 on Saturday and closed with a 91 to place 18th overall. The freshman from Fieldcrest High School made 13 pars in the tournament, including seven in her first round.

Olivia Seei also shot in the 80s on Saturday, posting an 85 that included a birdie at the par-5 14th. Seei finished 23rd individually at 178 for the tournament.

Allie Thome had the Chargers' best score Sunday as she shot an 85. The freshman from LaSall-Peru High School had birdies at the par-4 second and par-4 12th holes in the final round. Thome moved up five spots on the leaderboard Sunday, finishing 25th with a 181 total for the weekend.

Sandburg shot 360 in each round and was one shot back of fourth-place Southeastern in the 10-team field. Sandburg and Southeastern were the only two NJCAA programs in the event.

Coe posted rounds of 319 and 316 to win the tournament by 12 shots over Marian, which shot 647 for the weekend.

Coe's Lia Maxwell was medalist after rounds of 76 and 75. Maxwell won by two shots over Macie Petropoulos of Illinois College.
