Hackman takes 7th for Chargers at Fighting Scot Spring Invite
MONMOUTH — Ava Hackman finished seventh individually as the Sandburg women's golf team started its spring schedule at the Fighting Scot Spring Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Gibson Woods.
The Chargers totaled a 371 in the first round but improved by 18 strokes on Sunday to shoot 353 and finish third in the team standings.
Hackman opened with an 88 on Saturday and shaved her score by seven shots Sunday for a 36-hole total of 169. The sophomore from Oregon was one stroke out of sixth and five back of the runners-up. Hackman had 11 pars in her final-round 81.
Lauren Minkel (93-86) tied for 14th for Sandburg, and Abigail Strode, Piper Lewis and Kylie Fahnestock were 16th, 17th and 18th, respectively.
Spalding shot 650 for the tournament to win the team championship. Spalding's Alexis Seay shot 7 over in each round to win by eight shots over teammate Jordan Harris and Aquinas' Ellie Christian.
