Sandburg women win at Highland, move into tie for 1st in conference

FREEPORT — The Sandburg women's basketball team earned a 71-52 win at Highland on Thursday, helping the Chargers move into a tie for first place in the Arrowhead Conference.

Camryn Atterberg and Antonia Kisler each had double-doubles, and Hailey Redding scored a team-high 19 points in the win over the Cougars.

Sandburg's victory, combined with Sauk Valley's 74-72 loss at Black Hawk, pulled the Chargers even with the Skyhawks in the conference standings at 6-1. Three games remain in the Arrowhead schedule, including Sandburg hosting Sauk Valley on Feb. 12.

The Chargers, who have won five of their last six overall, led 23-15 after a quarter and 42-31 at halftime of Thursday's win over the Cougars.

Atterberg collected 14 points and 15 rebounds while also putting up five assists, three steals and three blocks. The freshman from Keokuk, Iowa, had 10 rebounds on the offensive end. Atterberg has four double-doubles on the season, with three of them coming in the last six games.

Kisler went 4 of 8 from 3-point range on her way to totaling 15 points and 10 rebounds for her seventh double-double this season.

Redding knocked down three 3s as she finished with 19 points to pace the Chargers. Tiera Hall added nine points and eight boards for Sandburg.
