Chargers hammer Highland for 6th win in 7 games
GALESBURG — Four players reached double figures for the Sandburg women's basketball team in Tuesday's 90-60 Arrowhead Conference win over Highland.
The Chargers (12-6, 2-0) won their third game in a row and for the sixth time in seven outings with the wire-to-wire blowout of the Cougars. Sandburg hit 11 3-pointers in the contest, its fifth straight game with double-digit 3s.
Freshman Hailey Redding delivered five of those triples as she scored a game-high 23 points. Redding was 8 of 12 overall from the field and hit 5 of 7 shots from beyond the arc. It was Redding's fourth 20-point game this season and her third in the last four contests.
Antonia Kisler totaled 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Kisler also had five of Sandburg's 14 steals and dished out three assists.
Freshman Camryn Atterberg collected 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting and pulled in seven boards. Sophomore Tiera Hall finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and a team-high four assists to go with two steals.
Freshman Lajaya Angel came off the bench to lead Sandburg in rebounds with 10.
Leading 7-6 in the first quarter, the Chargers drained four straight 3s in under 2 minutes to go up 19-6. Redding connected on three of those treys, and sophomore Tyriunna Steele hit the other.
Sandburg took a 31-15 lead after the opening period and had a 50-32 advantage at halftime.
