Chargers drop road contest to Bulldogs despite Kisler’s season-high 27

GALESBURG — Antonia Kisler set a season-high in scoring, but it wasn't enough for the Sandburg women's basketball team in a 68-57 loss Saturday at South Suburban.

The Chargers (12-7), who came in having won six of their last seven, were limited to just 16 points in the first half and shot 33 percent from the field for the game.

Kisler ended the day with 27 points, topping her previous high of 25 set Dec. 4 at John Wood. The freshman from Galesburg was 9 of 22 overall, hit 3 of 4 tries from 3-point range and was a perfect 6 of 6 at the foul line.

Kisler also had 11 rebounds to lead the Chargers and earn her seventh double-double of the year. She added five assists, tying Tiera Hall and Lillian Covarrubias for the team lead.

Sandburg trailed 28-16 at the break. The Chargers put up 24 points in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs didn't give any ground, scoring 24 of their own.

No other Sandburg player finished with double figures. Brook Pieper had eight points, while Hall, Covarrubias and Layni Dobbins each scored five.
