Bio

Todd Winkler has served as Sandburg's softball coach since 2005. He has helped lead the Chargers to their first conference title in program history in 2019 in addition to Region 4 tournament championship appearances in 2012 and 2016.

In addition to coaching softball, Winkler serves as Sandburg's volleyball coach since 2003 and has built the program into one of the premier powers in the region. With Winkler at the helm, the Chargers have won three Arrowhead Conference championships (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023) and made four NJCAA Division II Championship appearances (2017, 2018, spring 2021, 2024) after winning the Region 4 tournament title.

Sandburg also has finished as runner-up in the Region 4 tournament on six occasions under Winkler (2010, 2011, 2016, 2019, 2021, 2022). In all, the Chargers have played for the Region 4 title 10 times in Winkler's tenure, including seven straight appearances from 20216-22.

Winkler grew up outside of Alexis and went to Alexis High School and Western Illinois University. He lives on his family farm just outside of Alexis and has two adult daughters, Kayla and Kelsey.
