Chargers Tally 2 in 2nd Half for Win at DuPage

GLEN ELLYN — The Carl Sandburg College men's soccer team struck for a pair of second-half goals as it defeated DuPage 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in a Region 4 match.

The teams went into halftime scoreless before Rodrigo De la Fuente got the Chargers on the board with an unassisted goal in the 48th minute as he intercepted a pass, dribbled to the top of the box and scored inside the right post. The goal was the second in as many games for De la Fuente and his fourth in the Chargers' last five matches.

Sandburg doubled its lead in the 55th minute when Felipe Garcia found the back of the net off an assist from Saul Etienne. Etienne made a centering pass, and Garcia fired a shot just outside the box into the top left corner. The goal was Garcia's first of the season, and it was the third assist of the year for Etienne.

Sandburg's back line, meanwhile, held the Chaparrals to just three shots on goal in the contest. Lucas Maranhao stopped all three DuPage shots as the Chargers recorded their fifth clean sheet in six games this season.
