Hoosen, Wake tie for 11th to pace Chargers at Fighting Scot Spring Invite

MONMOUTH — Kenny Hoosen and Tanner Wake tied for 11th overall as the Sandburg men's golf team placed fifth at the Fighting Scot Spring Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Gibson Woods.

Hoosen and Wake each finished at 154 for the tournament. Hoosen posted rounds of 6-over-par 77 each day, while Wake opened with a 79 and shot a team-best 4-over 75 on Sunday.

Sandburg shot 319 as a team on Saturday to be in a tie for fifth after one round, but the Chargers improved their score by 14 shots in the final found. All four Sandburg scorers on Sunday posted rounds in the 70s: Wake (75), Logan Beers (76), Hoosen (77) and Colby Robertson (77). Beers' final round included a 1-under 34 on the front nine.

The Chargers finished 10 shots ahead of sixth-place Lewis & Clark and eight back of Aquinas for fourth. Sandburg had the best finish of the three community college programs in the 10-team field.

Wisconsin Lutheran shot 299 each day to win the team title by nine strokes over Coe. Wisconsin Lutheran's Luke Movrich was 3 over for the tournament to take medalist honors by one shot over Aquinas' Matt Denhartigh and Spalding's Ashton Bass.
