Beers posts pair of rounds in 70s for Chargers at Black Hawk Invite
MILAN — Logan Beers shot a 4-over-par 76 on Friday and tied for 18th overall as the Sandburg men's golf team tied for seventh at the Black Hawk Invite at Pinnacle Country Club.
Beers shot an opening-round 78 on Thursday and closed with the Chargers' low round with a 76 on Friday. His second round featured a birdie on the par-4 fourth followed by pars on the next 13 holes.
Colby Robertson had consecutive rounds of 80 to tie for 39th in the 92-player field. Kenny Hoosen, who was the Chargers' low man Thursday with a 3-over 75, tied for 42nd at 161 for the tournament.
Sandburg shot 314 in the first round and tied Clarke for seventh as a team after shooting a second-round 326.
Parkland shot 11 over (587) for the tournament to beat Illinois Central by six shots in the 16-team event. Illinois Central's Trey Boecker was medalist at 1 under for the tournament after posting rounds of 70 and 73. He finished two strokes ahead of Parkland's Ludvig Granlund.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
The Chargers will compete in the Monmouth Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Gibson Woods. Monday's Region 4 Preview at PrairieView has been canceled because of forecasted inclement weather.
