Phillips Finishes 7th as Chargers Host Arrowhead Conference Meet
GALESBURG — Clayton Phillips (New London, Iowa/New London) led the Carl Sandburg College men's golf team with a 7-over-par 78 as the Chargers hosted an Arrowhead Conference meet Thursday at Lake Bracken Country Club.
Phillips' round included birdies on the par-5 third, par-4 10th and par-5 15th holes as he finished seventh individually.
The Chargers were fourth as a team with a score of 322. Cooper Theleritis (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) finished with an 80, and Calvin Peterson (Williamsfield, Ill./Williamsfield) and Cole Hopping (Vermont, Ill./VIT) each shot rounds of 82 for Sandburg.
Black Hawk won with a team score of 307. Illinois Valley (315) and Highland (318) also finished ahead of the Chargers. Sauk Valley was fifth with a score of 345.
Highland's Riku Moriyama was medalist with a 1-over 72. Moriyama shot a 2-under-par 33 with three birdies on the back nine.
