Caves Matches Season High With 18 in Loss to Scots

GALESBURG — Hunter Caves tied a season-high with 18 points and was one of five Chargers to reach double figures in the Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team's 98-88 loss Saturday to McHenry County at John Lewis Gym.

KEY MOMENTS
• The Chargers led 29-25 with 6:10 left in the first half after a 3-pointer from Myles Estrada, but the Scots outscored Sandburg 19-2 to close the half for a 44-31 lead.
Marckell Longstreet closed a 9-0 Chargers run with a pull-up jumper with 9:15 to play to make it 72-60. Sandburg pulled within eight points on three occasions in the second half — the last on Connor Barnett's turnaround shot with under 3:00 left — but McHenry County closed out the victory.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Caves finished 5 of 12 from the field, connected on his only 3-point attempt and went 7 of 11 from the foul line. The sophomore also had five rebounds. Caves' scoring total matched the season-best 18 points he had Jan. 19 at Illinois Valley.
