RIVER GROVE — Triton connected for the lone goal in the 75th minute to deal the Carl Sandburg College men's soccer team a 1-0 loss Wednesday afternoon in Region IV action.
The match was the third in a row for the Chargers (4-5-1 overall, 3-5-1 Region IV) against a nationally ranked opponent. Triton entered the contest ranked 20th in NJCAA Division II.
Sandburg played with 10 men for much of the match as Felipe Augusto Da Silva was sent off with a red card in the 25th minute. The Chargers, though, managed to keep the contest scoreless until the Trojans (14-1) were able to break through late on an unassisted goal by Ronaldo Rojas in the 75th minute to account for all the scoring.
It was the only goal allowed by Chargers keeper Benjamin Hilton on nine shots on net. Sandburg was unable to convert on its five attempts.
